Bicycling/Walking

The Rutgers University Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee assists Department of Transportation Services (Dots) and the Office of University Planning and Development (OUPD) to identify locations with bicycle and pedestrian problems and discuss ideas for potential solutions. They also help to promote the awareness of bicyclist and pedestrian rights to the Rutgers University community.

Bicycling/Walking

The network of bicycle and pedestrian pathways is an important piece of the overall transportation system. To maintain and develop this network Dots and OUPD work together to:

  • Enhance connectivity within and between campuses
  • Improve safety of existing facilities
  • Implement improvements to locations without adequate accommodations to bicyclists and pedestrians
  • Increase awareness of the benefits of bicycling and walking through information and education. Learn more about Rutgers’ progress towards a bike friendly campus here.
Bike Rental Pilot Program

As part of the University's mission to provide cost effective and green transportation alternatives to the University community, the Rutgers Energy Institute, the Rutgers Green Purchasing Program and the Rutgers Department of Transportation Services teamed up to launch a bike rental pilot program.
